29th April

29th April

29th April, Friday

Everyone will be arriving in Glasgow, though on different flights so we will have to work around your flight schedules. This will be the first day when you are all in Scotland and will have a chance to see Glasgow, which is very different from Edinburgh.

All the participants will receive on arrival in Edinburgh daily bus tickets for the whole stay and a map of Edinburgh. They will be waiting for you, with your host family.

Get ready for plenty of walking. Take good shoes. A bottle of water. We will give you some tips for what to see while there, although you will spend most of the time individually. Make friends with Glasgow.

We recommend going to Kelvingrove Gallery, which is one of the loveliest museums in Scotland located in the West End, close to the prestigious Glasgow University. In the afternoon you will get a chance to see the Centre, the Merchant City and the East End. Chippie Doon the Lane, in Buchanan Street, is a great place to eat fish, served on a mock newspaper. Also, if you manage try to have tea and scones at The Willow Tearoom, in Buchanan Street, famous for its Charles Rennie Mackintosh fin-de-siecle interior design.

[This programme is still subject to change. Check for the final version 25th April]
